About Me

Hi! My name is Amanda and I drink coffee and travel.

As a kid, I only liked coffee ice cream, so I grew an affinity for finding rich and creamy lattes, mochas, and other "candy coffees." However, I respect the purists who can drink their coffee black. My father likes his so black that he wants a spoon to stand up straight in it. I learned to appreciate coffee at its core when I was a Starbucks barista and had to learn way more than I thought I'd ever know about coffee during my training. Though it's a chain, I hold my experience there near and dear to my heart as it fostered a sense of community on many levels in the store where I worked.

I usually prefer a medium or dark roast over a light roast, but it's all about finding the right balance and I never judge what others like. You might be shocked to hear that I normally drink decaf (blasphemy, I know), but it just keeps my anxiety and ravaging hunger that caffeine causes at bay.

As for my adventures, you'll find I love anything outdoors. I like to hike, run, and am just getting into mountain biking. I like solo trips or with one or two good friends, so I have the freedom to explore at my own pace between adventure destinations.

I'm based in the Washington, DC area, but please let me know what your favorite coffee shop is that I should visit next and a great adventure to do with it!
